With the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, Blackstone River Theatre must follow local, state and national guidelines and remain closed to in-person classes until further notice. 
The dates below are obviously not correct but kept in place for class descriptions. We hope to resume our full class schedule in Fall 2021.

Songs of the Carter Family with Elwood Donnelly
Blackstone River Theatre will offer a three-week class concentrating on learning SONGS OF THE CARTER FAMILY with instructor Elwood Donnelly on Tuesdays, May 7, 14, and 21, from 6:30-7:45 PM. This group class needs a minimum of five students, with a maximum of 13. Fee is $ 54.00 per student per three-week session.

earn to play songs from this influential group who were in full swing between 1927 and 1943. A.P. Carter, his wife Sara, and Saras cousin Maybelle sang a pure, simple harmony that has gone on to impact music among most genres. Elwood will provide song lyrics and simple chord progressions that can be adapted for many different instruments while also exploring their history. Bring your voice and the instrument of your choice; It is helpful to know basic chords. 
Elwood Donnelly is half of the acclaimed folk duo Atwater~Donnelly, along with his wife Aubrey. Elwood is a seasoned traditional American music performer and workshop leader who teaches with patience and pleasure. Elwood sings and plays mountain dulcimer, guitar, harmonica, and an array of percussive instruments. His ability to integrate fun with scholarly prowess reveals a deep understanding of traditional music.
So we can be assured of meeting the minimum needed to hold any of our class offerings, BRT NEEDS PRE-PAYMENT AT LEAST 3 DAYS BEFORE THE START OF ANY CLASS (and hopefully sooner!) or we'll need to cancel at that time.
