UPDATED 04/09/2022
Several Heritage Arts Studio classes started up in Winter, 2022. More are scheduled for Spring, 2022.

NOTE: Beginning April 1, Blackstone River Theatre plans to change our classes covid policy and no longer require masks or proof of vaccination status. If you wish to still wear a mask that is of course totally fine ... and we WILL ASK you to wear a mask if you are NOT vaccinated. By attending a Blackstone River Theatre class, you are voluntarily assuming all risks related to exposure to COVID-19. Blackstone River Theatre will continue to monitor our COVID policy with hopes a return will not be needed.

As part of our Heritage Arts Studio initiative, Blackstone River Theatre pursues arts education outreach by offering classes and workshops at the theatre with respected performers and teachers. This initiative allows the community to discover or reconnect with traditional art forms (music, song, dance, folk, visual and literary arts) and become PARTICIPANTS in our regional arts heritage.

Heritage Arts Studio offerings for Winter/Spring 2022 will include two levels of fiddle workshops with Cathy Clasper-Torch. Tir Na Nog Irish Dance will offer five days of non-competitive Irish step dance classes for children and teens with instructor Erika Damiani. Ed Sweeney will offer advance beginner classes in guitar and beginner, cont. beginner, and intermediate 5-string banjo on Saturdays. Ed will also offer a Group Guitar Workshop for intermediate guitar players on Mondays. We will offer workshops in both beginning and intermediate mountain dulcimer with Aubrey Atwater. Aubrey will lead a class in Singing Traditional Folk Ballads and she will also teach a clogging workshop. Kyle Forsthoff will offer total beginner and advanced beginner workshops in bodhran (Irish drum) . Winter 2022 classes will also include: rhythm bones workshop for beginners with Dean Robinson, classes in beginner and continuing beginner Ukulele with Armand Aromin, and workshops in beginner Irish step dance for adults with Kevin Doyle. Look for a two-day workshop in Celtic stone carving with Laura Travis in Fall, 2022.
