Ukulele for continuing beginners
Another session of ukulele classes will be held early 2023!
NOTE: By attending any Blackstone River Theatre class, you are voluntarily assuming all risks related to exposure to COVID-19. For both ukulele classes, the instructor requires masking and proof of vaccination (email your vac. card to firstname.lastname@example.org) Uke classes will be held in our 3rd floor, larger room which will have an air purifier running 24/7.
Blackstone River Theatre will offer a six-week UKULELE class for TOTAL beginners with instructor Armand Aromin on Thursdays, October 6, 13, 20, 27 and November 10, 17, from 6:30-7:20 PM. This small, group class needs a minimum of five students, with a maximum of eight. Fee is $95 per student per six-week session. Prepayment necessary! This class is designed for the complete beginner, and/or, if you're like Armand, you want to play an instrument but can't understand why anyone thinks playing bar chords on guitar is enjoyable! He'll talk about rhythm, chords, strum patterns, and how to accompany both songs AND tunes. All this while Armand not-so-subliminally infuses every lesson with his celebrating Rhode Island music agenda. Must bring a ukulele to class!
Blackstone River Theatre will offer a six-week UKULELE class for CONTINUING beginners with instructor Armand Aromin on Thursdays, October 6, 13, 20, 27 and November 10, 17, from 7:30-8:30 PM. This small, group class needs a minimum of five students, with a maximum of eight. Fee is $95 per student per six-week session. Prepayment necessary! This class is designed for the continuing beginner student (taken one or two sessions in the past or similar experience) who has gone from simply owning a uke to learning how to play one. We'll continue to work on topics referenced above in the beginner class, but also learn fingerpicking patterns, alternative chord voicings, transposition, and, of course, further methods for pushing the Rhode Island music agenda… Must bring a ukulele to class!
Armand Aromin is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, dancer, and violin maker who strongly believes in discovering one's local musical history. His Providence-based duo, The Vox Hunters, published their first book of old music from Rhode Island entitled The Ocean State Songster, Volume I.
