MONDAYS
9-week session runs: Sept. 17, 24, Oct. 1, 15, 22, 29, Nov. 5, 19, 26

4:00-5:30 PM - Green Troupe and Soft Shoe Technique 
Fee: $200.00 for 9-week session per student
Troupe classes perform at local schools, nursing homes, festivals, parades, weddings, private parties and more! Members will perform in the Irish Dance Christmas Show as well as the Summer Solstice Festival in June. A member of the Green Troupe shows strong understanding of Soft Shoe technique, understands the terminology of Irish Dance, and some of the basic figures of Irish Dance choreography. This class also teaches students Irish dance steps in soft shoe. The focus is on technique and proper positions of dancing, body and posture. This class also teaches many of the modern day Irish Dance jumps such as Birds, Axels, Hover springs and more, as well as traditional Ceili dances. The purpose of this class is to learn steps that fit to Reel, Jig, Slip Jig, and Hop Jig music and continue to learn more steps and intricate flourishes to soft shoe Irish Dance. Irish soft shoes (ghillies) are required for this class. 

TUESDAYS
7-week session runs: Sept. 18, 25, Oct. 2, 9, 16, 23, 30

4:30-5:30 PM - Beginner and Advanced Beginner Hard Shoe 

Fee: $ 87.00 for 7-week session per student

This class is for beginners in hard shoes and advanced beginners as well. This class is a good fit for any dancer who has never learned Hard Shoe before or is still trying cement the basics of hard shoe. Hard Shoe are required to participate in this class. You can check or used bin for a size that might fit you or order from www.rutherfordshoes.com. Tap shoes or knock off brand hard shoes are not allowed. This class can (and should!) be repeated as many times as necessary to master the foundations of basic Hard Shoe before moving on. The advanced beginners will be taught the continuing beginner steps of hard shoe, basic rhythms, proper foot placement, keeping their heels off the floor, and much more!

• When purchasing hard shoes please make sure they have a black bottom and square tip toe. Rutherford Shoes makes wonderful Irish Dance Soft and Hard shoes. You can purchase shoes via their website www.rutherfordshoes.com OR please check out our shoe bin at the studio.

5:30-7:00 PM - Cara Troupe and Soft Shoe Technique (Pronounced Kar-uh, Meaning FRIEND)
Fee: $152.00 for 7-week session per student
This is a combo class of soft shoe technique and troupe class. This class is for younger students who show extreme effort and participation in shows, practicing, attention in class, maturity, attendance, and ability. This troupe will perform in all shows throughout the year including the Christmas Spectacular, March Madness, and Summer Solstice Festival.  

• This troupe has a different costume than other troupes. Please see Erika if you have questions regarding the costume for CARA troupe.

7-8 PM - Advanced & Intermediate Hard Shoe - Cara 5
Fee: $ 87.00 for 7-week session per student

This class is for dancers who have taken both the beginner and advanced beginner hard shoe classes and who have a very strong handle on the beginner hard shoe dances. Dancers coming into this class should be able to do all the basic moves like trebles, tips, rolls, and should be able to keep their heels off the ground. The focus of this class will be on faster-paced reels, learning the traditional Hard Shoe set dances, as well as new steps for Hornpipe, Treble Jig, and a few modern spins on Hard shoe dances.

THURSDAYS
7-week session runs: Sept. 20, 27, Oct. 4, 11, 18, 25, Nov. 1

4:30-5:30 PM - Rince Troupe (Pronounced Rink-uh)
Fee: $ 87.00 for 7-week session per student
Troupe classes perform at local schools, nursing homes, festivals, parades, weddings, private parties and more! Members will perform in the Irish Dance Christmas Show as well as the Summer Solstice Festival in June. A member of the Rince Troupe shows strong understanding of Soft Shoe technique, understands the terminology of Irish Dance, and has a decent handle on the basic figures of Irish Dance and choreography.

5:30-6:30 PM - Intermediate Hard shoe
Fee: $ 87.00 for 7-week session per student
This class is for dancers who have taken both the beginner and advanced beginner hard shoe classes and who have a very strong handle on the beginner hard shoe dances. Dancers coming into this class should be able to do all the basic moves like trebles, tips, rolls, and should be able to keep their heels off the ground. The focus of this class will be on faster-paced reels, learning the traditional Hard Shoe set dances, as well as new steps for Hornpipe, Treble Jig, and a few modern spins on Hard shoe dances. All dancers must have hard shoes to participate in the class.

6:30-7:30 PM - Soft Shoe Technique
Fee: $ 87.00 for 7-week session per student
This class teaches students Irish dance steps in soft shoe. The focus is on technique and proper positions of dancing, body and posture. This class also teaches many of the modern day Irish Dance jumps such as Birds, Axels, Hover springs, double ups and more, as well as traditional Ceili dances. The purpose of this class is to learn steps that fit to Reel, Jig, Slip Jig, and Hop Jig music and continue to learn more steps and intricate flourishes to incorporate into soft shoe dances.

7:30-8:30 PM - Sonas Troupe (pronounced So Nas)
Fee: $ 87.00 for 7-week session per student
Troupe dancers perform at local schools, nursing homes, festivals, parades, weddings, private parties and more! Members will perform in the Irish Dance Christmas Show as well as the Summer Solstice Festival in June. A member of the Sonas Troupe shows strong understanding of Soft Shoe technique, understands the terminology of Irish Dance, and many of the basic figures of Irish Dance choreography. At this level dancers should be very strong in upper body posture, working on always having their feet turned out, and they should be able to stay on high on their toes, with hands closed and arms straight at all times.

• Any dancer who is a troupe member must also be taking one additional soft shoe class.

FRIDAYS
7-week session runs Sept. 21, 28, Oct. 5, 12, 19, 26, Nov. 2

4:30-5:30 PM - Uisce Troup (pronounced Ish Ka)
Fee: $ 87.00 for 7-week session per student
Troupe classes perform at local schools, nursing homes, festivals, parades, weddings, private parties and more! Members will perform in the Irish Dance Christmas Show as well as the Summer Solstice Festival in June. A member of the Uisce Troupe shows strong understanding of Soft Shoe technique, understands the terminology of Irish Dance, and many of the basic figures of Irish Dance choreography. At this level dancers should be very strong in upper body posture, working on always having their feet turned out, and they should be able to stay on high on their toes, with hands closed and arms straight at all times. Uisce troupe members should have phenomenal performance skills such as smiling throughout each dance routine and confidence in performing at many types of venues. 

Any dancer who is a troupe member must also be taking one additional soft shoe class.

5:30-6:30 PM - Soft Shoe Technique
Fee: $ 87.00 for 7-week session per student
This class teaches students Irish dance steps in soft shoe. The focus is on technique and proper positions of dancing, body and posture. This class also teaches many of the modern day Irish Dance jumps such as Birds, Axels, Hover springs and more, as well as traditional Ceili dances. The purpose of this class is to learn steps that fit to Reel, Jig, Slip Jig, and Hop Jig music and continue to learn more steps and intricate flourishes to soft shoe Irish Dance.

6:30-7:30 PM - Ceol Troupe (Pronounced Key-Ole)
Fee: $ 87.00 for 7-week session per student
Troupe classes perform at local schools, nursing homes, festivals, parades, weddings, private parties and more! Members will perform in the Irish Dance Christmas Show as well as the Summer Solstice Festival in June. A member of the Ceol Troupe shows strong understanding of Soft Shoe technique, understands the terminology of Irish Dance, and many of the basic figures of Irish Dance choreography. At this level dancers should be very strong in upper body posture, working on always having their feet turned out, and they should be able to stay on high on their toes, with hands closed and arms straight at all times. Ceol troupe members should also have phenomenal performance skills such as smiling throughout each dance routine and confidence in performing at many types of venues.

SATURDAYS
8-week session runs Sept. 15, 22, 29, Oct. 6, 13, 20, 27, Nov. 3

9:00-9:50 AM - Beginner Irish Dance - Age 5 to 10

Fee: $80.00 for 8-week session per student
This is a pure beginner class for children ages 5 to 10. They will learn the basics of irish dance, how to count the music, beginning foot placement, and beginner steps. Class limited to 15; minimum 7 students needed to hold class. No experience is expected for beginner level and no special shoes are required. We do ask children to wear soft-soled shoes (or just socks) and wear loose, comfortable clothing. Note: Very often, students at this age level will take this beginner class two, three or more times before being placed in a continuing beginner class as it is VERY important to really learn and be able to execute the basic steps of Irish dance before moving on and adding to them. Please bring a water bottle, notebook, and pencil to class.

10:00-10:45 AM - Continuing Beginner Irish Dance - Ages 8 and up + Soft Shoe for NOG Troupe members
Fee: $80.00 for 8-week session per student
This class is a continuing children's class ages 8-12, but can also be used as a beginner class for those students who have already had experience in dancing in other genres and want to try out Irish Dance. The class will focus on Irish Dance technique, solidifying foot placement, learning more intricate steps and understanding the 4 main types of Soft Shoe Irish Dance - Reel, Jig, Slip Jig, and Hop jig. Note: Students in the class often repeat this class 2-3 times before moving up. Many dancers usually transition from this class into the performance troupe classes. Please bring a water bottle, notebook, and pencil to class.

11:00-NOON - Nog Troupe
Fee: $ 80.00 for 8-week session per student 
This class will be for Tir Na Nog's youngest performance troupe dancers. They will meet once a week for an hour and participate in different shows throughout the year at different nursing homes, schools, parades, the christmas spectacular, and more.They will learn basic choreography of group dances, basic handholds, and will be challenged to remember different routines throughout the year. Note: It is not uncommon for a child to be in Nog troupe 2 years in a row as this is where the foundation of all group dancing and performing is laid.

SUNDAYS
8-week session runs Sept. 16, 23, 30, Oct. 7, 14, 21, 28, Nov. 4

9:00-10:00 AM - Gold Troupe and Hard Shoe Troupe

Fee: $100.00 for 8-week session per student
Troupe classes perform at local schools, nursing homes, festivals, parades, weddings, private parties and more! Members will perform in the Irish Dance Christmas Show as well as the Summer Solstice Festival in June. A member of the Gold Troupe shows extremely strong understanding of Soft Shoe technique, understands the terminology of Irish Dance, and some of the basic figures of Irish Dance choreography. At this level dancers should be strong in upper body posture, their feet should be turned out, and they should be able to stay high on their toes with hands should closed at all times. Gold troupe members should also have good performance skills such as smiling throughout each dance routine and confidence in performing at many types of venues.

10:00-11:00 AM - Soft and Hard Shoe Technique
Fee: $100.00 for 8-week session per student
This class is for dancers who are excelling in both hard and soft shoe classes. Dancers coming into this class should be able to do all the basic moves like trebles, tips, rolls, most soft shoe jumps, all while keeping their heels off the ground. The focus of this class will be on learning higher level moves and honing in on technique.

11:00-12:00 PM - Inis Troupe (Mix of hard and soft shoe dancers)
Fee: $100.00 for 8-week session per student
Students taking this class should be able to learn new dances steps quickly, have a good handle on many of the current dance jumps and be able to hear a tune and know which type of dance it is. This class is a combination of members from Gold, Claddagh, and Triskele troupes.

12:00-1:00 PM - Claddagh Troupe
Fee: $100.00 for 8-week session per student
Troupe classes perform at local schools, nursing homes, festivals, parades, weddings, private parties and more! Members will perform in the Irish Dance Christmas Show as well as the Summer Solstice Festival in June. A member of the Claddagh Troupe shows outstanding understanding of Soft Shoe technique, understands the terminology of Irish Dance, and many figures of Irish Dance choreography. At this level dancers should be very strong in upper body posture, feet turned out, high on their toes, with hands closed and arms straight at all times. Claddagh troupe members should also have phenomenal performance skills such as smiling throughout each dance routine and confidence in performing at many types of venues.

1:00-3:00 PM - Triskele Troupe (Pronounced Tris-Kale)
Fee: $150.00 for 8-week session per student
Troupe classes perform at local schools, nursing homes, festivals, parades, weddings, private parties and more! Members will perform in the Irish Dance Christmas Show as well as the Summer Solstice Festival in June. A member of the Triskele Troupe shows a exceptional understanding of Soft Shoe technique, understands the terminology of Irish Dance, and all of the basic figures of Irish Dance choreography. Triskele troupe members should be executing each step with confidence, pointed toes, turned out feet, and hands ALWAYS closed. A stiff upper body with arms held closely to their torso as well as a smile at all times is a must. Performing for a Triskele troupe dancer should flow easily from within.

Erika Damiani has run Tir Na Nog Irish Dance at Blackstone River Theatre since 2011. Erika placed nationally in 2010 with the American Association of Irish Dance Teachers and in 2011 and 2012 with the North American Irish Dance Federation, and has danced her way to Prizewinner level. She has experience in teaching classes with children from age 5 and up to adults.
