As part of our Heritage Arts Studio initiative, Blackstone River Theatre pursues arts education outreach by offering classes and workshops at the theatre with respected performers and teachers. This initiative allows the community to discover or reconnect with traditional art forms (music, song, dance, folk, visual and literary arts) and become PARTICIPANTS in our regional arts heritage.

Heritage Arts Studio offerings for Fall 2018 will include a 9-week session of seven levels of fiddle classes with Cathy Clasper-Torch including a total beginner level and a NEW TEEN class. Tir Na Nog Irish Dance will offer a Fall session of non-competitive Irish step dance classes for children and teens (19 different classes levels) with instructor Erika Damiani. Ed Sweeney will offer a 6-week series of total beginner and intermediate classes in guitar and continuing beginner and advanced beginner 5-string banjo on Saturdays. Ed will also offer a 6-week Group Guitar Workshop for intermediate guitar players on Mondays as well as a NEW class in Christmas music for intermediate guitar players. We offer a NEW 6-week class in beginner Sean nos dance with Armand Aromin  starting Sept. 26. In October we will offer NEW 3-week classes with Aubrey Atwater in Ballad Singing and continuing tin whistle, and a NEW 4-week class in Beginner Tap Dance with Kevin Doyle. We will also offer a 6-week beginner and continuing beginner session in bodhran (Irish drum) with Kyle Forsthoff. Look for a two-day workshop in Celtic stone carving with Laura Travis October 6-7. We will also offer October and November workshops in continuing mountain dulcimer with Aubrey Atwater and beginner mountain dulcimer with Elwood Donnelly. We continue our popular Zumba classes on Monday evenings with April Hilliker.
